Deciduous forests used to cover most of the eastern half of the Untied states and southern Canada. Most of western Europe was once deciduous forests but those have been cleared nearly a thousand years ago. Then when European settlers came to North America they also cut down the forests in eastern potion of the North America for lumber, firewood, and industrial use.
Deciduous forest are know for regrowing quickly so most of these forest have grown back since. Sadly, the dominant species have changed or have became endangered in these areas due to the human disturbance. Currently, the area losing deciduous forest at the fastest rate is Siberia. As these forests disappear so do Siberian tigers, cranes and bears.
